Chengdu-Yibin International Logistics Park in the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River Put into Construction
Updated:2023.03.29

Chengdu and Yibin have worked together to build a logistics hub and a southward material distribution center in the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou fringe zone. On March 27, the project of Chengdu-Yibin International Logistics Park in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River was put into construction in the Eastern Industrial Park of Yibin Sanjiang New Area.

The development, construction, investment attraction and operation of this project are undertaken by Sichuan Chengdu-Yibin Logistics Park Construction and Development Co., Ltd., which was jointly founded by state-owned enterprises in Chengdu and Yibin. With a total investment of 420 million yuan, the project covers an area of about 137,333 m2 and a total construction area of 70,000 m2. Besides six logistics warehouses, two Class C1 warehouses, one cold storage, offices and supporting buildings, such supporting facilities as parking spots, park roads and pipe networks will also be built.

According to the project leader Zhang Wenxin, who serves as Chief Planner of Chengdu-Europe Supply Chain Group Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Sichuan Chengdu-Yibin Logistics Park Construction and Development Co., Ltd., this project will rely on Yibin's high-level industrial foundation, talent reserve, water, electricity and other factors, as well as the transport and location advantages of the nearby ports, bonded areas and railways, and link the industrial chains of Chengdu's automobile manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. It aims to open up a "Chengdu-Europe + Yibin" southward road-rail-water multimodal transport channel and build a logistics hub and a southward material distribution center in the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou fringe zone.

In addition, the project is slated to build a supply chain collaborative service platform for such emerging industries as power batteries, new materials and equipment manufacturing in Yibin, as well as traditional industries such as Chinese Baijiu, chemicals and textile, and to promote the deep integration and interconnected development of industrial chains and supply chains. "To put it simply, the project will serve as a transfer station after completion. It will realize distribution to consumers and timely provision of raw materials for production enterprises, so as to further improve production efficiency and serve the development local industries," said Zhang Wenxin.

According to the plan, the main body of some warehouses and supporting buildings will be completed within this year, and the remaining part will be constructed in due course. The project team has carried out advance investment promotion, interacted with a number of high-level enterprises, and sought cooperation opportunities with regional retail and logistics enterprises on finished goods storage and fresh cold chain to ensure the effectiveness of investment attraction.

Chengdu-Yibin International Logistics Park is another cross-regional demonstration project of industrial cooperation between Chengdu and Yibin in building ecosystems and reinforcing industrial chains after Chengdu-Yibin Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.

In June 2022, Chengdu-Yibin Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park was put into construction. The first phase of the project covers an area of about 165,333 m2, with a total investment of about 495 million yuan. Through interconnected industrial development, this project aims to reinforce, upgrade and extend the industrial chains, and become a manufacturing and assembly base for Sichuan's equipment exported southward. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed and delivered in September 2023.

In recent years, Chengdu and Yibin have continuously deepened cross-regional cooperation in all aspects and multiple fields, jointly promoted the implementation of major cooperation projects, and built a pilot demonstration city for cross-regional cooperation together. At present, the two places have realized infrastructure connectivity and achieved fruitful results in industrial, financial and educational cooperation as well as investment promotion and talent exchanges.
